Just a Carrier

As I paper carrier, I receive varied responses. Some appreciate receiving their morning paper before seven a.m. and gift me with tips and cards. Others take it all for granted, reading the morning news without a thought as to how it arrived on their doorstep. Does it really matter who I am? Is it not the paper itself that is of value? I am just the carrier of the good and bad news of the day. If I did the job for the pay, it would not be worth the early morning rise. If I did the job for personal acclaim, it would not be worth being so insignificant. Yet the time to think and muse, the space to reflect and problem solve, the quiet to pray and plan recharges my inner battery. By the time I finish, I feel ready to head into a busy day; ready to deal with difficult children and solve problems. As I go through my daily routines, I continue to be just a carrier.
